The service and support provided was faultless from the moment they were contacted until the day of the funeral. Julie and John at Delanoy knew that mam was a long-standing Sunderland AFC ticket holder who followed the club home and away. Knowing how much the club meant to her, on the day before her funeral, Delanoy took her on one last trip to the Stadium of Light and made a beautiful short video of the visit. This was entirely at the behest of John and Julie and was a wonderful and emotional surprise for the whole family. It meant so much to us all. Mam would have been so thrilled and delighted. This was the first experience I have personally had with Delanoy's but my mother has family ties with the company going back generations, so we knew they were a long-established and well respected company.

I had no hesitation in contacting Delanoy funeral services after the previous experience we had with the passing of my mother.

I lost my soul partner Ian Calvert , the support and care through the most difficult of times helped me through. I could not recommend this service high enough to anyone.

From the day our Dad passed right up to the day we laid him to rest they went above and beyond in making the day perfect even with a few last minute touches and surprises for the family. They were extremely considerate and showed empathy throughout in what was a very difficult time for all of us and for that we will always remain extremely grateful. We cannot recommend them enough.

Delanoy Funeral Services provided truly exceptional care during such a difficult time for our family. From the very beginning, they were kind, patient, and incredibly compassionate, which made a world of difference to us.

They took the time to really listen and understand what we wanted, and it was clear that they genuinely cared about every detail. Seeing my mam in the chapel was both emotional and comforting — she looked absolutely beautiful, and her hair was done to perfection. That meant so much to us.

After the incident on Wednesday, when John was injured whilst carrying out his duty, we wanted to reaffirm why we walk in front of the hearse.

Thank you to every driver in Easington today who showed us the utmost respect and held back to allow our cortege to pass safely. It truly meant a great deal to ourselves and the family.

Walking in front of the hearse is a long-standing tradition and a final act of care. It symbolises leading the deceased on their final journey and also lets other road users know a funeral procession is taking place.

We never experienced anything like Wednesday’s incident, and we hope we never do again. All we ask is for patience, awareness and respect when you see a funeral cortege.

During my wonderful dad's final journey, a driver overtook the hearse and funeral cars. It is a difficult and heartbreaking day enough as it is. This makes me so sad. Xx
