When the funeral arrangements are made you will be given a written estimate of all the charges incurred by the service you have requested. Together with all third party fees which need to be paid before arrangements can be confirmed, these are Disbursements and Additional Expenses & Costs. We ask for this estimate to be signed as consent that you accept the charges and that you give your authority for the contract to begin before the end of the cancellation period and you will be liable for payment of the account when submitted. This is usually 2 – 3 days after the funeral. If wished, the account may be forwarded to your solicitor; however arrangements must be made and agreed for us to do so, however you will still remain liable for the invoice.
We reserve the right to add interest on all outstanding accounts at 5% per month, back dated to the original date of invoice, for accounts that remain unpaid after 14 days. If, because of your circumstances, you have to make a claim for assistance from the Department of Work and Pensions, please note that stringent rules apply as to the amount of help available, if any. If your application is successful or not, you accept full liability for any outstanding balance. Please talk to us, in confidence, for guidance.
