Terms of Business
This page provides a brief summary of our Terms of Business. A full copy of our Terms is available on request and forms the legally binding agreement between us.
Estimates and Charges
We will provide a written estimate outlining the funeral arrangements and associated costs. This is an estimate only and may change if you request amendments or if third-party fees (disbursements) vary.
Payment Terms
A 50% deposit is required 7 days prior to the funeral taking place
For unattended funerals, full payment is required in advance.
The final invoice is due within 7 days of the invoice date. Interest and administration fees may be applied to overdue accounts.
Where funds exist in the deceased’s bank account, payment can often be made without waiting for probate.
If you apply for Government assistance (such as DWP Funeral Expenses Payment), please inform us immediately. These schemes usually provide only a contribution, and any remaining balance remains your responsibility.
Cancellations
If you cancel or amend the funeral arrangements, you may be charged for:
- services already provided,
- disbursements paid or committed,
- costs that cannot be recovered.
Cooling-Off Period
Where applicable, you may cancel within 7 days of signing the agreement. If you ask us to begin work immediately, you will be charged for services already provided before cancellation.
SAIF Membership
We are proud members of the National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF)
Membership ensures we meet high professional standards, follow SAIF’s Code of Practice, and provide access to SAIF’s independent mediation service.
Standards of service
We are committed to providing a professional, respectful, and compassionate service. Abusive or inappropriate behaviour towards staff may result in withdrawal of services.
Data Protection
We handle all personal information in accordance with data protection legislation. Your data will be used only for:
* arranging the funeral,
* administering your account,
* fulfilling legal obligations.
We share your information only where necessary with third-party providers involved in the funeral arrangements. You may request access to or correction of your data at any time.
Liability
We aim to provide services promptly and efficiently, but we cannot accept liability for delays or disruptions beyond our control (e.g., severe weather, regulatory delays, or public health issues).
Our liability is limited to the total amount paid for our services, except where the law states otherwise.
Intellectual Property
Any materials we create—including photographs, videos, service materials, or tribute videos—remain our intellectual property unless agreed otherwise. You may use these for personal purposes only. Tribute videos must not be shared online.
Personal Effects
We take reasonable care of the deceased’s personal effects but cannot accept liability for valuables unless agreed in writing. We recommend removing personal items before the funeral where possible.
Termination
We may terminate our services immediately if:
-
deposits or payments are not made as required,
-
you behave abusively or unlawfully,
-
circumstances make it unsafe or impossible to continue.
You may also terminate the agreement in writing. In both cases, you remain responsible for charges incurred up to the date of termination.
Governing Law
By continuing to instruct us, you confirm your acceptance of these Terms of Business. These Terms are governed by the law of the UK jurisdiction in which the funeral is arranged.
